iMeta Visits Bosnia House – a new initiative giving hope to refugees

The iMeta team recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in an open day at a brand-new refugee house in Birmingham for those displaced by conflict. Bosnia House, an initiative from the Bosnia and Herzegovina UK Network, has become a haven for refugees from Bosnia, Ukraine, Syria, and other regions marred by unrest. Based at the former police station in Sparkhill, Birmingham, Bosnia House provides a holistic approach to support, including mental health assistance, English language lessons, employment guidance, and community facilities.

As representatives of iMeta Training, we were deeply moved by the warm welcome and inspiring work being done at Bosnia House. It was an eye-opening experience that shed light on the profound impact they have on the lives of refugees seeking solace and a fresh start in the UK.

One of the standout features of Bosnia House is its dedicated team, boasting over 20 years of combined experience in supporting refugees. Their commitment to creating a nurturing environment is evident in every aspect of the house’s operations. The staff at Bosnia House diligently works to address the unique needs of each resident, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. Their efforts have seen them able to provide supplementary schooling to over 200 children so far.

Beyond the immediate support, Bosnia House actively collaborates with local businesses and organizations to assist refugees in finding employment opportunities, promoting self-sufficiency and independence.

Bosnia House serves as a symbol of transformation and resilience, values that we share at iMeta. During our visit, it was heartening to witness the positive impact of Bosnia House on the lives of its residents. The repurposed space has been thoughtfully redesigned to encourage social interaction and a sense of unity among the residents, and empower them to build better futures.
